Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
