Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete
The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.
Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable
No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
